The self-assessment shows where you are on each of the five emotional intelligence skills. It has 20 short statements and takes about 4 minutes. Your answers and scores are private to you.
Take the self-assessment
Section titled “Take the self-assessment”-
Open Emotional Intelligence from the menu on the left.
-
In the banner at the top, select Take the self-assessment. The banner shows this button until you’ve taken it once.
Or open the Me tab and, under Self-assessment, select Take it (or Take it again if you’ve done it before).
-
For each statement, select a number from 1 to 5: 1 means rarely and 5 means almost always.
Answer for how you are, not how you’d like to be.
-
When you’ve answered all 20, select See my results.
To stop without saving, select Cancel.

Your results
Section titled “Your results”Your scores appear in the banner at the top of the page, under Your last self-assessment. Each skill has a score from 1.0 to 5.0 and a bar:
- Self-awareness
- Managing emotions
- Motivation
- Empathy
- Relationships
Each score is the average of the four statements about that skill. Some statements describe something to avoid, such as “I’ve sent messages I later regretted”. For those, a low answer counts as a high score.
To work on a skill, open it on the Learn tab. See Learn the skills.
Track your progress
Section titled “Track your progress”Take the self-assessment again every few months. Once you’ve taken it more than once, the Me tab shows Your progress: each skill’s scores in order, for example “3.2 → 3.6 → 4.1”. The banner always shows your latest scores.
