The File Manager is your organisation’s shared place for documents, such as policies, reports, photos and evidence. You keep them in folders, so that everyone in your organisation can find and open them.
Open it with File Manager in the menu on the left.
Who uses this area
Section titled “Who uses this area”Everyone in your organisation sees the same File Manager, whatever their role: the same folders and the same files.
Everyone can also change it. Anyone in your organisation can create, rename, move and delete folders, and upload, rename, move and delete files, including ones a colleague added.
The main ideas
Section titled “The main ideas”- Root and folders. The File Manager starts at Root. Root holds folders only. Files always go inside a folder.
- Folders inside folders. A folder can hold files and other folders, so you can build a structure such as “Finance > Audit 2025 > Evidence”.
- The folder path. Above the list, the path shows where you are, starting with Root. Select any part of it to go back up.
- Opening a file. Select a file’s name to open it in a new browser tab.
What you can upload
Section titled “What you can upload”| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Kinds of file | Pictures, videos, PDF documents and plain text (.txt) files. |
| Size of each file | Up to 10 MB. |
| Files at a time | Up to 5 in one upload, together up to 50 MB. |
Other kinds of file, such as Word documents and spreadsheets, can’t be uploaded. Save them as PDF first. See Upload files.
Files elsewhere in VirgilTrack
Section titled “Files elsewhere in VirgilTrack”Some files belong to something else in VirgilTrack, and stay there. They are not in the File Manager:
- files and pictures you send in Private chat,
- files attached to comments on a risk or a control. See A risk’s page and Comment on a control.
- files attached to a calendar event. See Add an event.
